Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister in New Delhi to discuss bilateral relations

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor G. L. Peiris is in India on an official two-day visit on the invitation of India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar.

He was received in Delhi by Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda.

During the visit, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to hold discussions with Indian Government officials on further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris will hold discussions with India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajith Doval and other Government representatives.

His visit comes against a backdrop in which Sri Lanka is seeking a loan of 1 billion US dollars to overcome the country's foreign currency crisis.
