(VIDEO) French couple in hospital after Badulla train ride turns ugly

COLOMBO (News 1st); A French couple was rushed to hospital last evening after both fell off the Udarata Menike Train, while it was moving.

A French couple is in hospital after they fell off the Udarata Menike Colombo - Badulla train last evening while traveling on the footboard.

It was reported that a French woman had first fallen off the train and her boyfriend jumped after, in order to save her.

The French couple had fallen off the train between Ohiya and Idalgashinna.

Upon seeing this daring act, passengers had decided to pull the emergency brakes to bring it to a stop.

The foreign couple was brought back to the train and were taken off at the Diyathalawa Train Station, where emergency services were waiting for them.

Other passengers on the train who had witnessed the scene had thereafter taken measures to stop the train.
