Hearing of petitions against LNG power plant deal postponed

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of fundamental rights petitions filed against the transfer of 40% of the government-owned stake in the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi Thermal Power Plant to the United Stated company New Fortress Energy on February 07, 08, 09 and 10.

The petitions were called up in the presence of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya on Thursday (3) to announced the dates to consider the applications.

The Attorney General informed the bench on Thursday (3) that the submissions connected to these petitions will be presented on the 10th of February 2022.
