COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s debt to GDP ratio has risen up to 106.7 % by September 2021.

It’s an increase from 101 percent in 2020.

A high ratio indicates it’s less likely the country will pay back its debt.

Central bank data indicate that Sri Lanka’s total debt had risen to 84.1 billion US dollars by September 2021.

The foreign debt is 31.6 billion US dollars.
