COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka is to host the BIMSTEC summit on the 30th of March 2022.

BIMSTEC is a 7-member grouping that includes India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.

Reports show that the BIMSTEC Charter, Master Plan for Transport Connectivity & Convention on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters will be signed at the summit.

The group will also work towards finalizing the Coastal Shipping Agreement and the Motor Vehicles Agreement.

Indian media reported that it is possible that the summit will take place in a hybrid format.
