COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board states that a capacity of 160 MW was added to the system from the 3rd generator of the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant, which was inactive.
This was confirmed to News 1st by the Deputy General Manager & Spokesperson for the CEB Andrew Navamuni.
It should be noted that the Kelanitissa Diesel Power Plant has covered the 300 MW of electricity lost from the 3rd Generator of the Norochcholai Power Plant since December 03, 2021.
In the meantime, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka says that they are deciding on whether to allow authorities to impose power outages.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) stated that there was no need for power cuts until Monday (31) following a review held on the 27th of January 2022.
