Hejaaz Hizbullah denied bail by Puttlam High Court

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Puttalam High Court has refused to grant bail to detained lawyers Hejaaz Hizbullah.

The case against Sri Lankan human rights lawyer Hejaaz Hizbullah at the Puttalam High Court was taken up on Friday (28).

On 14 April 2020, Hizbullah was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under the 

Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

Hizbullah was being investigated for allegedly “aiding and abetting” the Easter Sunday bombers and for engaging in activities deemed “detrimental to the religious harmony among communities”.
