COLOMBO (News 1st); The previous Government did not take action to build a single power plant, alleges State Minister Kanaka Herath.

Speaking further, the State Minister said that although the previous Government is accusing the present Government for the power crisis that is taking place, it did not take any steps to build a single power plant.

Pointing out that Sri Lanka have not had a power plant for about 7 years, the State Minister mentioned that the President's program to create 70% renewable energy by 2030 is not an impossible program, which is also an eco-friendly program.

On the other hand, that program saves our country's foreign exchange, he added.

However, certain groups within the CEB are on their way to sabotage this program and are not allowing it to be implemented, State Minister Herath also alleged.

Citing the protests being held opposing the LNG deal, the State Minister emphasized that in order to make a difference, everyone must support it.
