Artistes meet Avant-Garde's Senadhipathi to seek Ranjan's release

COLOMBO (News 1st); Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi had assured a group of artistes that he would discuss with the President the matter of securing the release of Former Member of Parliament Ranjan Ramanayake.

The group of artistes had met Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi on Wednesday (26) evening in Pitakotte.

The group had reportedly handed over a letter citing several requests including the release of Ranjan Ramanayake from prison.

Ramanayake is currently serving time for contempt of court.

Actress Dilhani Ekanayake who attended this meeting believed that Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi would make attempts to secure the release of Ranjan Ramanayake.

Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi had told the group that the present government does not go after people and that the request for Ranjan Ramanayake's release would be presented to the President within the next few days.
