Western Province health workers on strike and protest in Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Nurses, Paramedics, and Medical Professionals of the Western Province went on strike on Wednesday (26), demanding a solution to the salary anomalies.

The representatives of 16 Trade Unions including the Government Nursing Officers' Association and the Federation of Health Professionals have joined the strike action and they have launched a protest march in Colombo.

The Medical Professionals are demanding that the relevant promotions and benefits be provided, the salary anomalies are resolved and the graduates be recognized.

The clinical activities at main hospitals in the Western Province including the Colombo General Hospital and the Gampaha District Hospital were hampered due to the strike action launched by the Nurses, Paramedics, and Medical Professionals.
