COLOMBO (News 1st); The Consumer Affairs Authority on Wednesday (26) informed the Court of Appeal that it is possible for gas companies to recall suspected & half-used domestic gas cylinders and the relevant public notices will be made public via the Electronic Media on Thursday (27).
Senior Counsel Mahohara Jayasinghe appearing for the CAA told the court that the relevant notice was published in national newspapers on Wednesday (26) in all three languages.
The submission was made when a complaint was filed by Nagananda Kodithuwakku noting that the gas companies, as well as the CAA, had not complied with a previous court order to recall half-used and suspected domestic gas cylinders.
Kodithuwakku made the complaint when the writ application filed against Litro Gas and Laugfs Gas for distributing dangerous domestic gas cylinders was called up in the presences of Justices Ruwan Fernando and Sampath Wijeyaratne.
The application will be called up again on the 8th of February 2022.
