COVID-19 infected children, teachers being reported from schools island wide

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Education says that COVID-19 infected children and teachers are being reported from many schools island wide. 

However, the ministry stated that it is constantly monitoring the situation at hand. 

The Ministry added that it hopes to identify infected people and obtain the necessary health advice to act on the current situation.

Accordingly, the Ministry has instructed all education authorities to act in accordance with the health guidelines being issued.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hemantha Herath, Deputy Director General of Health Services, stated that the majority of COVID-19 patientswho are currently being reported are those infected with the OMICRON variant.
