Protests in Colombo & Kurunegala over several demands

COLOMBO (News 1st); Protest were held in several areas in Sri Lanka on Monday (23).

A group of employees of the Ministry of Textile Industries is engaged in a protest opposite the Fort Railway station on Monday (24) demanding that their monthly allowances be provided in a proper and streamlined manner.

At the same time, another protest took place in Kurunegala.

Doctors and staff of the Kurunegala Teaching hospital are protesting against the failure to arrest those involved in the attack on a doctor at the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital on the 19th of January.

The Colombo - Kurunegala road was blocked due to the protest.

At the same time, the Central Province trainee teachers of the Ceylon Teachers Union are protesting opposite the Presidential Secretariat.

Their demand is for a salary increase by Rs. 10,000/-.
