Country will be developed without assistance of IMF- Basil

COLOMBO (News 1st); Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa reiterates that the country will be developed without seeking the assistance of the IMF. 

Upon inquiry, the Finance Minister stated that the Government will save the country somehow, without going to the IMF to obtain a loan.

When asked why the Government is not going to the IMF, Minister Rajapaksa responded stating that the IMF is not going to strengthen the country economically.

The Minister was responding while appearing before the Gampaha High Court regarding the Malwana land case, which was filed against Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Thirukumar Nadesan, husband of former Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa.

The hearing of Muditha Upali Jayakody's evidence was completed on Friday (21) and the case was adjourned to March 11th.
