Free life insurance scheme for artists, introduced

COLOMBO (News 1st); The State Minister of National Heritage, Performing Arts and Rural Arts Promotion, Vidura Wickremanayaka has commenced a program to implement free Life Insurance to all artists in the country.

This inauguration ceremony of this program was held at the Temple Trees, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday (20).

At the event, Insurance Policies were awarded to 50 Sri Lankan artists.

Moreover, the official website of the State Ministry of National Heritage, Performing Arts, and Rural Arts Promotion was also launched by the Prime Minister.

Artists who lost job security owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and to those who cannot afford a good income will be prioritized by the Insurance scheme, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister said that his Government never imposed restrictions on artists, and that the Government will not be imposing any restrictions on artists in the future, as this Government understands the pulse of the artists.
