COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called on the Parliament to immediately reappoint former Chairmen and members to COPE and COPA, which ceased to function after the President prorogued Parliament in December 2021.

He requested that these parliamentary watchdogs recommence the investigations that were being looked into before the prorogation of the house.

"This government made a pledge to expose the 2019 Easter Attacks and reveal the masterminds to the people. The government promised to take every possible action against them. But, that has not taken place," said the opposition leader adding that the entire Catholic community in Sri Lanka has condemned the conduct of the country's government.

The opposition leader further added that Sri Lanka has fallen prey to geopolitical power struggles, adding the motherland is a playground for a geopolitical tussle.

He slammed the government for selling off national assets to foreign nationals and then begging across the world for US dollars, and questioned the house if asking for dollars is the so-called pride of the government.
