COLOMBO (News 1st); The Minister of Public Service, Janaka Bandara Thennakoon issued a gazette notification declaring the retirement age for public sector employees as 65 years on Thursday (20).
The 2022 Budget proposal underlined the retirement age increase as one of its proposals to improve the efficiency of the public sector.
According to the gazette, the retirement age for public sector employees has been increased to 65 years with effect from the 1st of January 2022.
It states that public sector employees have the choice of retiring after the age of 55, while retirement will be made mandatory at the age of 65.
