Bangladesh Navy Chief meets Defence Secretary

COLOMBO (News 1st); Chief of the Naval Staff of Bangladesh Navy Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal paid a courtesy call on the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne at the Defence Headquarters Complex, Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte on Wednesday (Jan 19).

The Defence Secretary warmly received the Bangladesh Navy Commander and held cordial discussion with him on matters of bilateral importance including the exchange of training opportunities and maintaining regional security while countering terrorism.

Following the meeting, Gen. Gunaratne and Admiral Iqbal exchanged mementoes to mark the occasion.

Deputy Military Liaison Officer Brig. Sumith Nandana was also present at the meeting which was held in keeping with the healthcare procedures to contain the spread of COVID -19.
