CPC to provide fuel for Power Generation until 22nd of January

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has agreed to continuously provide the required fuel for power generation, until the 22nd of January. A decision was reached at the Stock Review Committee meeting, to provide the required fuel to the Ceylon Electricity Board without any shortage, Sumith Wijesinghe, the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation noted. According to the CPC Chairman, steps will be taken to issue stocks of Diesel to Diesel Power Plants. Therefore, there is no need to panic about Power Cuts, Sumith Wijesinghe added. Meanwhile, Sugath Dharmakeerthi, the Spokesperson at the Ministry of Power told News 1st that accordingly, an uninterrupted supply of Power could be ensured in the country. Many factions of society, including experts and businessmen, are paying close attention to the prevailing Fuel and Electricity crisis in the country. Following the Cabinet meeting last night, responding to questions raised by journalists on the prevailing fuel crisis, Minister of Power Gamini Lokuge said the required stocks of fuel to meet the demand will somehow be imported to avoid any shortage.
