COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Engineers’ Union says it will resort to a Work to Rule campaign on Wednesday (19) afternoon, if the respective authorities fail to provide a solution to its demand.

Executive Committee Member of the CEB Engineers' Union, Charith Jayanath Dayaratne stated that a Sick Leave Campaign was carried out by the members of the Engineers Union citing objections against the arbitrary actions of the CEB administration.

He said the TU action is being conducted citing demands including the immediate removal of the newly appointed General Manager by the Chairman of the CEB.

Further, the CEB Engineers Union is also demanding the removal of the current Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board from his post as well.

He further stated that by 12 noon, the decisions reached by the Board of Directors will be announced and accordingly, the CEB Engineers Union will resort to either a Work to Rule campaign or a strike action.

Our attempts to contact the CEB administration to inquire about their response to the requests of the Electrical Engineers, were futile, as senior officials did not respond.
