800 containers of essential items to be released

COLOMBO (News 1st): Steps have been taken to issue US dollars to release 800 containers of essential food items held at the Port due to the prevailing foreign exchange crisis, Minister of Trade Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said on Wednesday (Jan. 19). The relevant documents have been forwarded to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, he noted. The containers will be released from tomorrow (Jan. 20), and essential food items such as Rice, Sugar, and Dhal will be available in the market, Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena added.
