COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has lost its moral conscience, said His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith on Tuesday (18).
“To go after money, go after power without any ranker or without feeling sorry about. That means the moral conscience of this nation is dead,” said the Archbishop of Colombo during the 100-year celebration of St’ Peters’ College, Colombo.
His Eminence said that the most important part thing is to develop good human beings with the right conscience who would be proud to have done the right thing and not the wrong thing, not to seek compromises and to find answers.
“Most of the leaders of this country sometimes do, try to do something wrong and find answers to justify them, that is not correct,” he said.
“After coming to power they ignore everyone. They ignore the Rule of Law, they ignore the principles of democracy,” he further noted about the present state of affairs in the country.
