COLOMBO (News 1st); The Parish Council of the All Saints Church has expressed its deep displeasure over the manner in which the investigations are being carried out with regard to the incident where a hand grenade was discovered at All Saints Church in Borella on the 11th of January 2022.
The Parish Council of the All Saints Church in Borella, in a release, says that they very strongly condemn the cowardly and irrational acts of those who have taken steps to plant a hand grenade at the All Saints Church located on the Ananda Rajakaruna Mawatha in Borella.
The Parish Council said that these acts committed in such places of worship in which multitudes of people have worshipped, found solace and peace since the 18th Century onwards violates the very fundamental rights of the members of their Parish Community and impacts the very roots of the national security of all the citizens of this nation.
The release added that the Parish Council of the All Saints Church is concerned over the manner in which the Police proceeded to arrest suspects even prior to viewing any CCTV footage and thereafter produce them before the court without even properly taking into consideration all of the CCTV footage evidence available in this instance.
Parish Council of the All Saints Church raised questions as to why the Police insisted the CCTV footage only after 3:00 PM on the day of the incident, is a great mystery against a backdrop where His Eminence – Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith stressed that very relevant evidence pertaining to the incident surfaced when viewing the CCTV footage in the morning of the day the incident took place.
In conclusion, the Parish Council of the All Saints Church said that they very firmly appeal to all the relevant authorities and to the Government to take these matters very seriously and handle these investigations with all the reasonable skill, care and due diligence.
