COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Health says that more than 3,500 people are hospitalized daily for in-house treatment due to accidents.
Consultant Community Physician Dr. Samitha Siritunga of the Non-Communicable Disease Unit of the Health Ministry said that the main cause of hospital admissions in Sri Lanka is accidents.
Speaking to News 1st, he said based on present calculations, in the next five-years, an estimated figure of 1 million patients are expected to be hospitalized due to accidents.
According to Dr. Siritunga, around 12,000 people die due to accidents every year, in Sri Lanka.
