My Government never used violence: Maithripala

COLOMBO (News 1st); My Government was the only Government which did not use violence or point guns, even at criminals, says former President Maithripala Sirisena.

Speaking during an event on Friday (07) the SLPP Chairman stated that just as State Minister Susil Premjayantha was stripped off of his portfolio, he too will be shown the exit from the Government when they conclude these meetings across the country, and emphasized that he will be ready for all those steps taken against him. 

Moreover, the former President said that the Government which he formed was a very different Government in comparison to all the other Governments seen so far in the country, as rogues in his Government opposed the President's decisions at the time, and some rogues in the Opposition at the time joined with Government rogues as well. 

Speaking further, the SLPP Chairman said that he was asked as to the reason for criticizing the Government while being close allies of the Government, and mentioned that more people were more critical of his Government than the present one. 

" People who criticized my Government are asking me as to why we criticize them now. I had to fight with many forces. You know the present conduct of the people who spoke about forming clean Governments back then...the world identified as the President who established the 19th Amendment. My Government was the only Government that did not point a gun even against criminals," he added.
