Revised bus fares in effect from Wednesday (05)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Transport Commission (NTC) says that the revised bus fares will be effective from Wednesday (05).

The Director-General of the NTC, (Retired) Commander Nilan Miranda said the minimum fare would be increased from Rs. 14 to Rs. 17.

He further stated that all other other bus fares will increase by 17.44%.

Accordingly, bus fares of semi-luxury and luxury bus services are set to increase, while the hike in bus fares is also applicable for expressway bus services.

NTC Director-General Miranda said that complaints regarding public transport services could be directed via the hotline 1955.

Meanwhile, the President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association, Gemunu Wijeratne says that the issuance of bus tickets could be delayed by another month as the ticket machines issued for buses should be repaired.
