COLOMBO (News 1st); We expect tourism to return to normalcy by January and February, says Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
Speaking to media, the Minister of Tourism said that he expects around 100,000 – 125,000 tourists to visit the country in January.
However, the Minister said that he expects at least 200,000 tourists inflow to the country for it to return to normalcy, and that he hopes to bring tourists from countries in the Middle East and India to Sri Lanka to bring the country to the level it was once in.
Speaking further, the Minister said that from January to December, about 180,000 tourists arrived in the country, and out of that, 86,000 visited only in December, which reflects a good trend.
