We must all be determined to overcome challenges of future: PM

COLOMBO (News 1st); At the dawn of the New Year, we must all be determined to overcome the challenges of the future with strength, inspired by the difficult experiences of life, says Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in his New Year wish. 

Issuing a wish for the New Year's Eve, the Prime Minister also said that the sacrifices made by everyone as a nation to overcome the social and economic challenges in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic are gratefully acknowledged.

The Prime Minister's message read, "As a Government, last year we gave more priority to saving the lives of the people. We have been able to save thousands of lives in the country, including the lives of your loved ones, by successfully implementing the vaccine program."

Whilst pointing out that the Government did not to halt any of the development activities in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said the Government's future hope is to continue to spread the dawn of development throughout the country by uplifting the living standards of the people.
