COLOMBO (News 1st); If the Government continues to play the same old game, the teachers' unions will revert back to mass action and protests, cautions the Ceylon Teachers' Union.

Speaking during a press conference, member of the Center for Labor Struggle, Sanjeewa Bandara stated that teachers and principals are waiting until 20th January for the promises made by the Government to be fulfilled, and in order to do so, the relevant circulars needs to be issued by the Government.

After the circulars are issued, the CTU said, the work required for the circulars should be done and salaries should be compiled through the Zonal Education Offices, in accordance with the relevant circular, said Bandara.

The General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union, Joseph Stalin pointing out that the Government is indeed going on a concerning journey by upsetting the people, added that that the teachers and principals will not hesitate to resume their union action.

He also demanded the Government to withdraw the directive regarding the appointment of acting principals as well.
