Gas Cylinder Heist in Colombo-07

COLOMBO (News 1st); A lorry carrying LP Gas cylinders was waylaid in broad daylight on Flower Road- Colombo-07, by a group in a three-wheeler, making off with three cylinders. In a bizarre twist, the suspects had paid for two empty cylinders before grabbing three full ones and fleeing the scene. According to the Police, the suspects in a three-wheeler, had accosted the transport vehicle forcing it to stop, and then paid Rs. 2,000 (Approx. US$10) to purchase two empty cylinders. They had then grabbed several ‘full’ containers and fled. The incident, which took place on the 29th of December, has brought the reality of a crippling gas shortage to Colombo’s most residential neighborhood. The Colpetty Police are investigating further.
