COLOMBO (News 1st); The former Minister of Agriculture, Hemakumara Nanayakkara respectfully requested the President to learn how to operate the State Administration from the Prime Minister.

Speaking to media, Nanayakkara also alleged that a few people who had no knowledge about organic farming had advised the President on the matter, which had caused the agricultural disaster in the country.

Speaking further, the former Minister stated that in the process of halting the importation of agro-chemical fertilizer, the Government had transformed the country from a self-sufficient nation into a dependent one.

Citing the remarks directed by the President during a meeting with newspaper editors, when the President said that organic farming in the country failed due to the mistakes made by officials, Nanayakkara asked as to the reason for the President to blame the officials and the Government itself for this issue.

Moreover, the former Agriculture Minister also stated that as he personally knows of many Rajapaksas, and respectfully requested the President to learn about State administration from the Prime Minister.

Furthermore, Nanayakkara also stated that the sentiments of the President of the inability to conduct organic cultivation without the officials' help are immature, as the President has proven several times, especially by bringing forth the 20th Amendment, that he has adequate powers to take and go through with any decision.
