COLOMBO (News 1st): A discussion will be held on Tuesday (Dec. 28), between the members of the Railway Station Masters Association who are currently engaged in a trade union action, and State Minister of Bus Transport Services and Train Compartments, Dilum Amunugama.
President of the Railway Station Masters Association, Sumedha Somarathna said they expect a definite solution to the cited issues, during today's discussion.
The Railway Station Masters decided to further extend the ongoing trade union action, after previous discussions to resolve the matter failed, and accordingly, they withdraw from the transportation of fuel, cement, and wheat flour with effect from Monday (27) evening.
Railway Station Masters launched this trade union action on the 23rd of December, citing several demands including the need to repair railway signals, and opposing the use of broken compartments in trains endangering the lives of passengers.
