Has Secretary to the President, Dr. P. B. Jayasundara, resigned?

COLOMBO (News 1st); Secretary to the President, Dr. P. B. Jayasundara has tendered his resignation letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, reported the Daily Mirror newspaper on Monday (27), adding that the resignation is yet to be accepted by the President.

The newspaper noted that Jayasundara had submitted a resignation letter around three to four pages long, detailing the obstacles he faced during his time in the position and had now sought the President’s permission to resign from office.

If President Rajapaksa accepts the resignation, Jayasundara is likely to resign in the first week of the new year, it added.

News 1st made multiple attempts to contact Dr. Jayasundara for a comment, however, these attempts were futile and the President's Media Division did not confirm these reports as well.
