COLOMBO (News 1st); In a context when the legislation of the country was amended in order to enable a foreign national to carry out Governing the country, it is unconscionable to place restrictions upon foreign spouses and to implement directive to obtain 'Security Clearance Reports' from the Ministry of Defence beforehand, says the National Movement for Social Justice.

Issuing a release, the NMSJ says that a civilized State would not attempt to mandate or obstruct the absolute privacy of any citizen, and adds that the State should carry out governance on a scientific basis and not a process which disrupts the personal activities of any citizen.

Mentioning that this act would also place limitations between certain sectors of the society, the movement alleges that the act also violates the basic human rights of all citizens.

Emphasizing that this decision would also draw much disrepute from the international community, the movement requests the Government to not to make Sri Lanka a cause for humiliation for the world, and to respect the privacy of every citizen.
