COLOMBO (News 1st): There is a sharp increase in the rate of Dengue patients detected from 15 districts, with the majority of cases reported from the Western Province, the National Dengue Control Unit said.
“During the course of this year, 33,269 Dengue patients have been reported in the country, with 60 percent of the cases detected from the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara Districts,” Community Physician at the National Dengue Control Unit, Specialist Dr. Shilanthi Seneveratne told News 1st on Friday (Dec. 24).
According to Dr. Seneveratne, Kandy, Galle, Jaffna, Hambantota, Mannar, Batticaloa, Puttalam, Trincomalee, Badulla, Ratnapura, Kegalle and Kurunegala districts have also reported significant number of Dengue cases.
She urged the people to seek medical attention immediately if fever persists.
