COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Consumer Affairs Authority on Thursday (16) confirmed that a vessel with 2,000 MT of gas has reached the Colombo Port.
Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority Retired Major General Shantha Dissanayake speaking to News 1st said samples were obtained from the vessel to inspect the quality and the standards, and these samples were sent to two separate bodies for tests.
In addition, the CAA decided to prevent the distribution of gas from a separate vessel as the consignment did not contain the necessary standard of the chemical compound ethyl mercaptan.
The CAA Chairman told News 1st due to the existing situation there is a shortage of gas in the local market.
