COVID-19: At least one patient has died with Omicron variant, Boris Johnson says

At least one patient has died with the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the British prime minister has said.

Speaking during a visit to a vaccination clinic near Paddington, in west London, Boris Johnson said: "Sadly yes Omicron is producing hospitalisations and sadly at least one patient has been confirmed to have died with Omicron.

The confirmation comes after Health Secretary Sajid Javid earlier told that "about 10" people are currently in hospital in the UK with the new Omicron variant.
