COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Polonnaruwa forging an identity of a person living in Getahetta.

According to Police the suspect had fled the Sri Lanka Navy in 2010 and stolen the birth certificate of the unsuspecting victim, the complainant, via a relative.

In 2012, he had used the stolen a birth certificate to prepare a National Identity Card and used to obtain a Passport to travel to five countries including Malaysia and Jorden.

The suspect was arrested in the Ahangama Police Jurisdiction and will be produced to the Galle Magistrate’s Court on Sunday (12).
