Carjacking suspect arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Police had arrested a suspect for threatening and carjacking a motor vehicle in Bambalapitiya recently.

Police said cash worth Rs. 30,000 and gold jewellery worth Rs. 360,000 had been stolen during the crime which took place on Thursday, the 09th of December.

Investigations revealed that the suspect has threatened the driver of the vehicle using a sharp weapon at the time of the incident.

The suspect has been identified as a 33-year-old resident in Kirulapone, and is due to be presented at the Hulftsdorp Magistrate's Court.
