COLOMBO (News 1st); The writ application filed by UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe challenging the final recommendations of the Presidential Commission of Political Victimization will be called up on the 28th of January.

Ranil Wickremesinghe filed a petition with the Court of Appeal seeking to make void the recommendations made against him by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Political Victimization.

The application was called up in the presence of a three-judge bench comprising of Justices Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne, Devika Abeyratne, and D.M Samarakoon.

In the application, the UNP leader requested an order to prevent the implementation of the said recommendation, until the application is taken up for examination and a final decision is delivered by the court.

The petition alleges that the manner in which the Commission has conducted its investigations had violated the law.

Ranil Wickremasinghe told the court that it was via the media that he was made aware of the fact that he is held accountable with regards to the complaints investigated by the anti-corruption unit as per the recommendations of the commission.

Therefore, he told the court that he not being awarded reasonable time to present facts to the commission was in fact an act that violates the rule of the land as well as the natural course of justice.
