Human Rights probe launched into gas explosions

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Human Rights Commission has launched an investigation over the daily reports of gas explosions that take place as a result of negligence by government bodies.

The Sri Lanka Standards Institute, The Consumer Affairs Authority as well as Ministries and State Ministries on Consumer Protection will provide material for the investigation.

The investigation was launched following complaints filed by journalists’ bodies and social activists.

The SLSI Director, Director General of CAA, and other officials were summoned to the HRC for the investigations on Thursday (9).
