COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government and semi-Government employees' Trade Unions will be conducting a trade union action by reporting sick, on Wednesday (08).

The move is being launched as a Joint Trade Union Action demanding their salaries to be increased by Rs. 10,000.

The Chairman of the All Ceylon Management Services Officers Association, Udeni Dissanayake said the Government was informed on the 29th of November regarding four demands related to the Public Service, adding that a positive response in this regard is yet to be provided.

Whilst pointing out that the Government has few more days left to finalize the decisions on the Budget proposals, Dissanayake stressed that the Government and semi-Government employees' Trade Unions will resort to a strike action if the Government fails to reach the relevant decisions regarding the demands of the Public Servants.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Health Professionals (FHP) says that they too will join the trade union action.

Co-convener of the FHP, Saman Ratnapriya said that a token strike will be carried out at Hospitals in the North-Western Province that come under the purview of the Central Government, and at Hospitals which come under Provincial Councils.

He further noted that all MOH staff members attached to the Federation of Health Professionals will also join the token strike.

However, Ratnapriya noted that emergency services will continue without any disruptions despite the strike action.
