60,000 + senior citizens unvaccinated

COLOMBO (News 1st); 67,000 people over the age of 60 have not yet taken a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, says the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs, M.H.M. Chithrananda stated that this was revealed via a survey carried out by field officers including Grama Niladharis.

Meanwhile, 94% of the estimated population over the age of 20 has been fully vaccinated, according to the Ministry of Health.

Its Deputy Director General of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath, said that 101.7% of people over the age of 20 have obtained the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
