COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said in a statement today (04) that the current Government, has neither the ability nor the desire to secure the country, and the only alternative is for the Government to resign.
Issuing a statement, the Opposition Leader states that the Government has caused for the country to suffer immensely within the last two weeks alone, at times when inflation has skyrocketed and the cost of living has become unbearable.
The Leader of the Opposition further stated that the present Government has left a society where education has collapsed, unemployment has become oppressive and unrest prevails.
The Government, which came to power boasting of National Security, has made the country unable to provide even a single safe gas cylinder to the people, the statement reads.
The Leader of the Opposition further points out that an era of queues has already been created throughout the country and on the other hand the country has reached a point where the number of COVID-19 deaths has exceeded 14,000.
The statement issued by the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa also mentions that the Government has turned even the Supreme Parliament into a hotbed of violence for its power projection.
The Leader of the Opposition also added that the people of the country are not ready to trust the present Government to the slightest.
Therefore, the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa has emphasized in the statement that the government should not hesitate to accept that there it has no ability to build this country in this time of crisis.
