COLOMBO (News 1st); The case filed against 14 accused including Former Navy Commander & Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda was postponed to the 7th of January by the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar on Friday (3).
The 14 accused are charged with abduction and enforced disappearance.
The case was called up in the presence of Justices Champa Janaki Rajaratne, Amal Ranaraja, and Nawaratne Marasinghe.
The Senior State Counsel appearing for the Attorney General said the writ application filed by Wasantha Karannagoda against the charges is to be taken up for examination at the Court of Appeal on the 8th of December and request for the case to be fixed for a later date.
On the 4th of August, the Attorney General informed the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar that the charges against former Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda would not be carried forward.
Admiral of the Fleet Wasanna Karannagoda is the 14th suspect in the case filed by the Attorney General on charges including abduction and enforced disappearance of 11 youth from Colombo.
Thereafter, relatives of the 11 youth filed an application with the Court of Appeal challenging the decision taken by the Attorney General.
