SL vs WI Women's Cricket WC qualifiers canceled

COLOMBO (News 1st); The match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies in the qualifying round for the Women's Cricket World Cup 2021 has been canceled.

The match was scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe, today (27).

Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva told Sports First that the decision was taken by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to the current COVID-19 situation in the South African region.

He added that the International Cricket Council is discussing the future of the tournament at the moment as well.

Prior to the tournament, three Sri Lankan athletes were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection and were placed under quarantine.
