COLOMBO (News 1st); The ‘Gammadda Movement’ has been recognized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) for its contribution towards promoting and inspiring volunteerism in Sri Lanka.
Gammadda was selected by the Jury as an Awardee under the Media Sector category, at the UNV Country Awards announced today.
A UNV Statement noted that “.Gammadda’s contributions over the years to society through volunteerism is indeed noteworthy and will be recognized during the UNV50 Country Awards scheduled for 7th December”.
Gammadda is Sri Lanka’s largest grassroots movement, operating across all 25 Districts and supporting thousands of communities.
Gammadda was recognised by the UN in 2016, as a flagship humanitarian initiative at the inaugural UN World Humanitarian Summit.
