COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Association says that the current 'Work to Rule' union action being conducted against the Government handing over shares of the Yugadanavi power plant will intensify on 08th December.
According to the Secretary of the Ceylon Electricity Board Joint Trade Union Alliance, Ranjan Jayalal, the employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board will launch a protest in Colombo over the Government decision on December 08th.
The 'Work to Rule' trade union action launched by the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Association to prevent the Government from handing over shares of the Yugadanavi power plant continued for the second day today (26).
The CEB Engineers trade union has been engaging in trade union action since 12 noon yesterday (25) over six demands, including the non-implementation of New Ports LNG deal and for the continuation of the ongoing LNG tender process.
Speaking further, the Secretary of the Ceylon Electricity Board Joint Trade Union Alliance stated that the trade unions will not turn off the electricity on 08th as they do not have any right to do so, however, maintenance of electricity will become the responsibility of the Government.
