COLOMBO (News 1st); All Sri Lankan citizens over the age of 60 will be given the booster dose against COVID-19, three months after the second dose, by mobile vaccination centers.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had given the directive to the health officials when the COVID-19 prevention committee met on Friday (26) morning.
In addition, all those over the age of 60 visiting hospital clinics will also be given the booster dose at that particular clinic.
Further, it was decided to administer the booster dose to all those over the age of 20 with non-communicable diseases, one month after obtaining the second dose.
Accordingly, cancer patients, those under medication for cancer, patients who underwent transplants, patients with blood transfusions, and those with low immunity due to non-communicable diseases will be given the third dose, based on expert medical advice.
The President had also instructed State Minister professor Channa Jayasumana to procure the Molnupirvar Capsule via the State Pharmaceutical Corporation, following the procurement procedure used in purchasing vaccines.
