Justice delayed over Easter Attacks; Cardinal expresses disappointment

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has once again expressed disappointment over the delay in serving justice over the 2019 April 21st Attacks.

He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the renovated building at the Holy Spirit Church in Wadduwa on Tuesday (24).

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said that the authorities are NOT even attempting to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission Report, regardless of being told to do so on numerous occasions.

He said, "The recommendations of the Presidential Commission should be implemented and if they cannot do that, this task must be handed over to someone who can do it."

Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith went on to note, "We have no politics, in this case, we only want justice to be done and the truth behind the attacks. Please do NOT attempt to hide this truth."

His Eminence noted that those in high positions who were well are of these attacks and promised to serve justice, are living as if nothing has happened, adding that such conduct cannot be accepted.
